October 23, 2012

WASHINGTON – October 23, 2012 – The American College of Cardiology (ACC) has hired Environics Communications to provide traditional and social media relations support for the College’s 62nd annual meeting.

The ACC is a 40,000-member nonprofit medical society comprised of physicians, surgeons, nurses, physician assistants, pharmacists and practice managers, and bestows credentials upon cardiovascular specialists who meet its stringent qualifications. The College is a leader in the formulation of health policy, standards and guidelines, and is a staunch supporter of cardiovascular research.

The College’s Annual Scientific Session & Expo attracts an estimated 19,000 attendees from around the world and more than 200 media. Environics will work closely with ACC staff to develop and implement a media relations campaign promoting groundbreaking research, maximizing coverage for the College in both traditional and social media before, during and after the annual meeting.

“Environics clearly understands the challenges of managing media for a large scientific meeting,” said Beth Casteel, director of media relations at the College. “Environics brought creative ideas and offered an energetic and experienced team to work alongside our staff every step of the way. After a competitive review of agencies, we determined they were a natural choice to work with the ACC.”

“We are pleased to add such a prestigious global health care association as the American College of Cardiology to our client roster,” said Environics U.S. General Manager Dave Groobert. “Its annual meeting is the preeminent event for the field of cardiovascular research and care, and we look forward to working with the College’s in-house communications team to garner traditional and digital coverage in the year ahead.”
