Design-Build Institute of America Hires Environics Communications

January 11, 2011

Washington – January 11, 2011 – The Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA) has hired Environics Communications as its national public relations agency.

DBIA is a membership association of design and construction industry leaders, and public and private building and infrastructure owners, who use design-build project delivery for office buildings, stadiums, healthcare and education facilities, transportation and water infrastructure, and other construction projects.

Under the design-build method, designers and builders collaborate from project start to completion. Design-build contracts reflect this integrated approach: the owner signs a single contract that includes both design and construction services. Design-build is a streamlined and cost-effective alternative to the design-bid-build method in which owners contract for design and construction services separately and sequentially.

Environics Communications has been hired to increase understanding and use of design-build project delivery, and to promote the value of DBIA membership and education, including the Designated Design-Build Professional and Designated Design-Build Associate certifications.

“The Environics team demonstrated an immediate understanding of the design-build concept and the proven benefits of ‘design-build done right.’ As we work together to raise the profile of design-build and DBIA, we expect decision makers will increasingly choose this efficient and economical single-contract approach for their capital projects,” said DBIA Executive Director Lisa Washington.

“DBIA has a compelling story to tell, as design-build is a logical, economical and environmentally sound method of project delivery,” added Environics’ U.S. General Manager Dave Groobert. “The use of design-build is growing rapidly, and we look forward to partnering with DBIA to increase awareness and acceptance throughout the design and construction industry.”
