Proof Strategies Welcomes Three to Its Government Relations Team
TORONTO, October 15, 2020 – As needs continue to grow for experienced government relations counsel and communications strategies during these uncertain times, Proof Strategies is expanding its team of specialists.
The firm announces the addition of Jim Patrick as a Senior Associate with its Government Relations team. Based in Ottawa, Jim is the former President of the Government Relations Institute of Canada, former Vice President of Government Relations at Shaw Communications Inc., Senior Vice President of the Canadian Wireless Telecommunications Association, and a Vice President with the Canadian Association of Broadcasters. Jim has also worked at the Department of Canadian Heritage, and as an independent agent and manager for theatre and music companies.
Proof Strategies also welcomes Joshua Zanin back to the company, as a Director on the Government Relations team. Josh is a public affairs and corporate communications professional with more than a dozen years of experience counselling senior executives on public policy matters, and providing communications advice at Global Affairs Canada, the Department of National Defence, and the Department of Fisheries and Oceans, among others.
Jim and Josh join Maurice Rioux, who became part of Proof Strategies earlier this year as Senior Consultant. Maurice’s experience includes serving four Ministers in six federal Departments including as Chief of Staff to the Minister of Canadian Heritage. As well, Maurice has worked in government at the federal and provincial levels and in opposition at the federal level. Having served as the Province of New Brunswick’s Senior Representative in Ottawa, he has a strong background in intergovernmental affairs.
“It’s not often that you get to add three seasoned, bilingual professionals to your team,” said Greg MacEachern, Senior Vice President, Government Relations at Proof Strategies. “Jim’s track record of leadership in the GR, telecommunications and media sectors, Josh’s proven ability to guide senior leaders and decision makers through complex challenges, and Maurice’s extensive knowledge of the public policy and political process will all be strategic force multipliers for the firm, and our clients,” added MacEachern.
“These times require that all organizations have positive, productive relationships with government. Our superb team members build trusting relationships with their deep knowledge and insights about the policy and decision-making process,” said Bruce MacLellan, CEO of Proof Strategies. “Managing COVID-19 is not getting easier as people face economic hardship, health concerns and the winter season,” added MacLellan.
